Testing
The body provides many clues that can help us get to the root cause of your imbalances. Inquiring about symptoms and performing relevant physical exams is often enough to guide the formulation of a treatment plan. However, in some cases it may be helpful to perform additional testing, to help pinpoint specific deficiencies or areas that require attention, or to monitor treatment progress.
In-house testing
The following may be performed during a consultation, with results obtained in minutes:
Blood glucose - Requires a simple finger prick to obtain a few drops of blood. Used to check if the level of sugar in the blood is either too high or too low, which can occur with diabetes, insulin resistance, hypoglycaemia, mood disorders and adrenal fatigue/chronic stress.
Urine analysis - Requires a urine sample. Used in cases of urinary abnormalities, such as burning, discharge, or itching, and as a general indicator of kidney health.
hCG urine analysis - Requires a urine sample. Used to check for hCG, a hormone which rises as an early indicator of pregnancy.
Third-party testing
Samples taken during a consultation are sent to specialised, high-quality laboratories for analysis. Requires a simple finger prick to obtain a few drops of blood.
Food Intolerances and Allergies - Used to check for an immune response to 100+ common foods, drinks and spices, which may be an underlying contributor to various health concerns, especially digestive troubles and skin issues. Suitable for ages 2+. Cost £120 or £190.
Vitamin D - Used to check levels of the “sunshine vitamin", found to be deficient in people living far from the equator and those with auto-immune conditions, fatigue mood disorders.
B12 - Also known as cobalamin, a critical vitamin for energy production, as well as immune and brain function. Often deficient in those with poor digestion, and vegans/vegetarians.
Cortisol (stress hormone) - *This test is done via a saliva sample* Cortisol, made by the adrenal glands, is one of the main hormones our body produces in response to stress. Levels in the body should vary throughout the day, being highest in the morning and tapering off as the day goes on. Chronic, high-level stress often results in higher than normal levels of cortisol, followed eventually by depleted levels.
Homocysteine - A marker of inflammation in the body correlated with cardiovascular disease, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol and heart attack.
Iron - Tested as ferritin, the storage form of iron in the blood. The most common nutrient deficiency worldwide, especially in women. Often low in those with fatigue, heavy menses, easy bruising, pallor and anxiety.
Mineral deficiency test - Tests levels of minerals in which we are commonly deficient: magnesium, selenium, zinc. These critical minerals are required for proper muscle function, immune regulation and mental health.
Cholesterol - Used a a tool to assess risk of cardiovascular disease. Requires fasting prior to test.
Pricing
In-house testing, when required, is included in the cost of the consultation.
