Because it is usually a big clue 🕵️ , a point in the right direction in my quest to discover the root cause of that persons concern. As a Naturopathic Doctor I have the privilege of spending a lot of time with my patients, and of getting to know them. So they feel comfortable telling me things at the back of their mind. How do you know which herbs/supplements will help lessen anxiety, make you feel more resilient, calm that monkey mind and yet give you more energy? ⚡️ It’s a fine balance. What animal is your poo alter ego? 💩 Are you a snake? Only pooing once a year? 🐍 A sloth at once a week? 🦥 Or a bat, all day and all night continuously? 🦇 All creatures are different, but us humans should go 1-3x a day. There should be no blood, no mucus and no undigested food (except corn and whole flax seeds!). The bowel movement should feel complete, and you should be able to trust a fart 💨. Heading into the fall and winter, it’s a time to slow down, to rest and recharge, and that’s good, that’s living in time with the natural world around us. A strong foundation is vital for good health, and that foundation is made of all the little habits, the things we do MOST of the time - trying to drink enough water, get enough sleep, eat the veg, move our amazing bodies, laugh - these things MATTER, they’re REALLY friggin important. And it’s hard to make good progress on health concerns unless we have a strong 💪 foundation on which to build. So yay to you for doing the things! Well done, your body thanks you. Bloating and wind - I care and you probably should too. It’s another signal that something is off, out of whack, imbalanced. And when it comes to digestion, it usually means the wrong kind of bug in the wrong part of your digestive system. Sometimes it is temporary, or only occurs when you eat a specific food. But if it’s been going on for months, if your bowel movements aren’t regular, if your energy has dipped then it’s worth looking into it. Because as we all know, the whole body is connected, so what happens in the GI system doesn’t necessarily stay in the GI system. Those symptoms can go on to cause other issues.
